Taurus running rich fuel injector suspect

Black smoke... hmm, I haven't specifically looked for it, but it might be there. Where exactly is the oxygen sensor located? And how would I go about checking it?

The oxygen sensor is usually located in the exhaust system, before and after the catalytic converter. Honestly, checking it properly requires some tools and knowledge. Given your symptoms – the rich mixture, reduced power, and jerking – and the fact that you suspect the fuel injectors, I'd really recommend taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue, maybe it's something with the intake manifold as well. It could save you a lot of time and potential further damage.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a mechanic, and you were right – it was a defective fuel injector! All sorted now, but cost me 515€. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Taurus. Reduced engine power, rough running, and high fuel consumption... are you noticing any black smoke from the exhaust? Also, have you checked your oxygen sensor? A faulty O2 sensor can mess with the air-fuel ratio and cause the engine to run rich.
