Taurus solar sensor fault

I've got a 2004 Ford Taurus with a gasoline engine that's throwing me for a loop. The error memory keeps logging a solar sensor fault, and my heating is barely putting out any heat. Could it be the solar sensor? I read online that it might be related to a bad cable or plug. Anyone else run into this?

Sounds like you might be on the right track with the solar sensor and the wiring. Is the sensor getting power? Sometimes even a slightly corroded connector can cause weird issues, like a dimmer switch that only works sometimes. If you're handy with a multimeter, that might point you in the right direction.

A multimeter, huh? I've got one, but not really sure how to check for power at the sensor. Any tips on how to go about that?

Yeah, it can be tricky. If you aren't comfortable with electrical testing, honestly, the safest bet is to take it to a workshop. At least they can pinpoint it for sure and give you a clear price. Could save you from accidentally frying something!

Good call. I took it to a shop, and you were spot on. It was a dodgy connector at the solar sensor. 95€ later, the heat is blasting me out, and the error is gone. Thanks for the advice!
