Teana electronic parking brake failure
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Nissan Teana owner reported a non-functional electronic parking brake, with an error stored and a warning light on. The issue was suspected to be related to either the brake switch or the electric motor in the brake caliper. Another individual with a similar experience suggested checking simple things like fuses and confirmed that the problem was indeed the electric motor in the brake caliper. The owner was advised to take the car to a workshop for safety reasons, where the defect was confirmed and repaired.

Thanks! The brake pedal feels normal, not spongy at all. I haven't checked the fuses yet, my technical knowledge is limited. Could you elaborate on your similar issue? Was it the electric motor in the calliper as well?

Yes, it was exactly that. The garage diagnosed it pretty quickly. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with the brakes myself. Get it to a workshop; vehicle safety is not something to gamble with. Cost me around 500€.

That's incredibly helpful and reassuring, and now I know what to expect. I'll take it to the workshop immediately. The mechanic confirmed your suspicion. The electric motor in the brake calliper was indeed defective, as you suggested. The final repair cost was 505€. Thanks again!

I had a similar issue with my Teana. Is the brake pedal feeling normal, or does it feel spongy? Thinking it might be the same problem. Did you check the simple things first, like fuses?
