Teana engine running lean

My 2007 Nissan Teana with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches. It feels like the engine is running lean. I've noticed reduced power, the check engine light is on, and the engine runs really rough. Plus, it jerks when I try to accelerate. I'm thinking it could be a defective fuel injector. Anyone else experienced anything similar?

I have a Teana too. Sounds familiar. Check the throttle body first. A dirty one can cause lean running issues too. Has spark plugs condition been checked? That check engine light could also point to other issues, maybe intake manifold leaks. Scan the code!

Thanks, good point. I will check the throttle body. The spark plugs might be worth a look too, it's been a while! But about the check engine light and the intake manifold leak -- wouldn't that be a separate error code? And do you think cleaning the throttle body helps or is replacement better?

The code could be vague. A leak messes with the air/fuel ratio, same as a dirty throttle body, leading to similar symptoms. Cleaning might help temporarily, but if it's seriously gunked up, replacement is the better long-term solution. I’d rather just go to a workshop.

Okay, that makes sense. I appreciate the advice! I took it to the workshop, and turns out, you were right. It was in fact an injector issue! Cost me 515€ to get it sorted. At least the car is running smoothly again.
