Terracan rough running exhaust leak
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Hyundai Terracan was experiencing rough running and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. Initial considerations included spark plugs and the oxygen sensor, but the possibility of an exhaust leak was suggested. Upon inspection, a crack in the exhaust manifold was discovered and repaired, resolving the issue and turning off the check engine light.

An exhaust leak... that's interesting. I haven't specifically checked for that. The misfire feeling is intermittent, so I discounted the coil packs. Where on the exhaust system did you experience the leak? Was it obvious, or did you need to get it smoke tested?

Mine was near the manifold. I only found it by chance when I was under the car and noticed some black soot around one of the joints. You could try feeling around the exhaust while the engine is running, but be careful of the heat! If you suspect a leak, get it to a workshop. They'll find it quickly, and it's often cheaper than replacing parts based on guesswork.

Thanks for the tip. I took it to a local workshop, and they found a small crack in the exhaust manifold, just like you said. Replaced it, and the uneven running is gone, the check engine light is off. The total repair cost me 265€. Cheers for your help!

I had something similar with my Terracan. Does it feel like a misfire? I spent ages chasing down ignition coil issues. Have you checked for any obvious exhaust leaks? A small leak can cause havoc with the engine management system and throw all sorts of errors.
