Terracan Transmission Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Hyundai Terracan diesel with 74,000 km is experiencing significant transmission issues, including non-functional paddle shifters, rough and slipping gear shifts, grinding noises, and slow response. The vehicle also entered emergency mode, and a diagnostic scan revealed an error code suggesting a defective transmission control unit. The recommended solution is to replace the faulty control unit, which resolved similar issues for another owner at a cost of approximately 1000€.

Yeah, the error code is definitely pointing towards a defective control unit. Did you have the same code? What did you end up doing to fix it?

Yep, same thing happened to me! It was definitely the control unit. Honestly, I wouldn't mess around with it too much. Just take it to a trusted workshop. They will probably tell you it's gone bad and needs replacing. It cost me around 1000€ to get it sorted.

Thanks a lot for the info! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on - the transmission control unit was the culprit. Got it replaced, cost me about 1000€, and now it's running like a charm again. Really appreciate the help!

Woah, that sounds rough! I've got a Terracan too, and I had similar symptoms a while back. My gearbox was all over the place. Is the error code pointing to the control module?
