Terracan Windshield Washer Heater Fault

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2004 Hyundai Terracan (gasoline engine). The windshield washer heater seems to be faulty. I'm getting an error in the error memory, and the spray nozzles freeze up when it's cold. I checked the fuse box, but I didn't find anything obvious. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

The 2004 Hyundai Terracan's windshield washer heater is faulty, causing the spray nozzles to freeze in cold weather. The issue is likely due to a malfunctioning heating element or a defective cable or plug connection. Checking the fuse box didn't reveal any obvious problems, and the fluid sprays normally when not frozen. A professional diagnosis and repair at a workshop confirmed a defective cable or plug connection, which was fixed.

It sounds like the heating element in your windshield washer system might be malfunctioning, or there's indeed an issue in the fusebox. Freezing nozzles suggest the heater isn't doing its job. Like a faulty lightbulb, the heating element can fail. Perhaps there's a defective cable or plug connection to the component. Does the windshield wiper fluid reach the windshield normally, when the nozzles aren't frozen?

Yes, the fluid sprays fine when it's not freezing. Where exactly is the heating element located, and is it easy to access? Is there a relay I should check besides the fuses?

The fact that the windshield wiper fluid reaches the windshield normally when it's not freezing, indicates that the pump is not defective. Also, clogged nozzles are not the issue here. Accessing the heating element will require some disassembly, which should be performed with care. Given the error memory and the potential electrical issues, a visit to a workshop is advisable. A defective cable or plug connection of the component would require diagnosis by a professional.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were right - it was a defective cable or plug connection, which they fixed. Total cost was 95€.
