Territory Air Valve Issue

My 2010 Ford Territory with a gasoline engine is throwing a check engine light. I've scanned it and it points towards an air valve issue. I suspect the hose connection from the pump to the valve itself is defective, given the age. Anyone else run into this?

Yeah, the air supply system on those can be finicky. Have you checked all the vacuum hoses for cracks or leaks? That's usually the first place to look for air valve related problems. Any rough idling?

I visually inspected them, but I didn't do a proper smoke test. Rough idling is intermittent, only when the engine is cold. Would you suggest a smoke test or just replacing the hoses?

Based on the symptoms and your inspection, the smoke test would confirm the leak. Given the age and intermittent rough idling, you're likely on the right track. To be safe, I would take it to a workshop and have them confirm it.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on. The hose was indeed the culprit. Repair cost me 175€, all in. Runs like new!
