Territory electric seat heater failure
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Ford Territory owner is experiencing a malfunction with the electric seat heater, indicated by an error code. Initial checks of the fuses showed no issues, leading to speculation that the heating element might be faulty. A suggestion was made to inspect the connection under the seat and check for voltage at the seat heater connector. Ultimately, a mechanic confirmed that the seat heating mat was defective, and the issue was resolved through repair.

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly is the connector located under the seat? And do you perhaps know what the voltage should be? I have a multimeter, so I can check that, but I'm not entirely sure what I should be looking for.

The connector is usually easily accessible right under the seat, you may need to slide the seat all the way forward to get better access. I cannot recall the exact voltage you should expect, but it should be at least battery voltage (around 12V). However, based on what you described, especially the error code, it is very likely that the heating mat itself is defective. If you are not comfortable doing so, I would suggest taking it to a workshop.

Thanks again for your help! I took your advice and brought it to my local mechanic. They confirmed it was indeed the seat heating mat that had failed. The repair cost me 390€. At least it's fixed now!

I also own a Territory and experienced a similar issue last year. I didn't have the error code though. Did you check the connection under the seat? It could be loose. Have you tried checking the voltage at the seat heater connector to see if it's getting power?
