Territory exhaust flap issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Ford Territory owner reported an error code related to the exhaust flaps, accompanied by a louder exhaust and rough engine sound on cold starts. The issue was suspected to be a defective exhaust flap. It was suggested to check the flap motor or valves for damage or obstruction. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by replacing the defective exhaust flap at a workshop, restoring smooth operation.

I haven't dug too deep yet, just scanned the codes. When you say 'flap motor', is that a common failure point? Is there any easy way to check it without pulling everything apart?

From my experience, yeah, the motor can be a weak spot. But honestly, without proper tools and knowledge, it's best to get it checked by a workshop. Could save you from causing more damage. They'll be able to diagnose it properly.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a shop, and you were right – the exhaust flap was defective. Ended up costing around 190€ to replace. Running smoothly now.

Hey, yeah, I had something similar happen on my old car, though it wasn't a Ford. Loud exhaust and error codes usually point to exhaust system problems. Have you checked the flap motor or the valves themselves? They might be stuck or damaged.
