Territory Low Brake Fluid

So, if I understand correctly, the worn brake pads cause the low fluid level because of the increased displacement within the calipers? Is that common with these braking systems? I don't know much about car stuff.

Yep, you got it exactly right. It's a pretty common thing. Think of it like a syringe – the more you push the plunger (piston), the more fluid you're drawing from the reservoir. I'd definitely get your brakes checked out by a professional. If it is the pads, better to get them replaced sooner rather than later. It could get dangerous.

Thanks for the explanation. I spoke to a mechanic and the brake pads were worn and needed replacing. The total, including fluid, was 480€. Thanks for helping me avoid a problem and teaching me something!

Hey, I also drive a Territory (different year though). I had a similar issue with the brake fluid and weird pedal feel. Turned out my brake pads were worn down pretty bad. As they wear, the pistons in the calipers have to extend further, which uses more fluid from the reservoir. Might be worth checking your pad thickness.
