Territory Multifunction Steering Wheel Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Ford Territory electric with 105,000 km experienced a non-functional multifunction steering wheel and a stored error message, with unresponsive buttons. The issue was suspected to be a cable problem inside the steering wheel. After checking fuses and ruling out simple issues, it was confirmed to be a defective cable connection within the steering wheel, which was resolved by replacing the cable, restoring full functionality to the steering controls.

The malfunction indicator isn't on, which is odd. Fuses are fine. When you say "faulty connection in the steering column," do you mean the wiring harness?

Yep, wiring harness! On my BMW, the insulation had rubbed through in a hidden spot. Unless you're confident with electrical work, take it to a workshop. Airbags are involved, and you don't want to mess with those. I ended up paying a similar amount to you to get it repaired.

I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on – defective cable connection inside the steering wheel. They replaced it for 95€. Steering controls are working perfectly now. Appreciate the advice!

I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 Series. All steering controls died! It was a faulty connection in the steering column. Is your malfunction indicator lamp on? Have you checked the fuses? Rule out simple stuff before dismantling the steering wheel.
