Thalia Automatic Gearbox Issues

Hey, need some help. I have a 2007 Renault Thalia/Symbol, diesel engine, and my automatic gearbox is acting up. It has 125511 km on the clock. The paddle shifters don't work at all, the gears slip sometimes, and it makes a weird grinding noise when it shifts. Plus, the response from the paddle shifters is super slow, and the car's gone into emergency mode. The car computer shows an error too. Could it be the transmission control unit?

Thanks for the info! That's really helpful. I did get some error codes, but I can't remember exactly what they were. I think something about the solenoids not working correctly. Does that sound like it matches your experience with the Opel?
