Thalia engine stalls at idle

Hi, I have a 2007 Renault Thalia with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light illuminated, and the engine occasionally stalls at idle. I suspect a fuel tank ventilation system leak. I've read it might be related to the activated charcoal filter. Any ideas?

Hey! Sounds like a pain. The charcoal filter is a common culprit for EVAP system leaks. Have you noticed any unusual fuel smells? Also, have you checked the fuel tank pressure sensor? Sometimes a faulty sensor can trigger the check engine light and cause similar issues.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't noticed any fuel smells. Where exactly is the fuel tank pressure sensor located? And how would I test it, or should I just replace it directly?

Okay, no fuel smells is good. Honestly, messing with the pressure sensor without proper equipment can be risky. Considering the age of your Thalia and the mileage (191539 km!), and since the charcoal filter is the likely culprit, I'd recommend getting it checked by a workshop. They can diagnose the problem properly and ensure the repair is done safely. Could save you money in the long run.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a local mechanic, and you were right. It was indeed the activated charcoal filter. The total repair cost was 275€. Runs like new now.
