Thalia Oil Temperature Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Renault Thalia owner experienced an issue with the engine oil temperature warning light and occasional oil pressure warning light. The error memory indicated a faulty engine oil temperature sensor, and initial checks suggested a possible connection issue. A suggestion was made to inspect the connector for corrosion or damage and use electrical contact cleaner. Ultimately, the problem was resolved at a workshop by replacing the connector and repairing damaged wiring.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly was the connector located on your Astra? Was it easy to get to? I'll definitely give it a try with some contact cleaner. Also, did your oil pressure light come on as well?

On the Astra, it was right near the sensor itself, a real pain to get to. And yes, the oil pressure light flickered a few times too, which really worried me. To be honest, after fiddling with it for a while, I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out quickly. I'd suggest doing the same; faulty oil pressure readings are not something to play around with.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I cleaned the connector, but the error persisted. Ended up taking it to the shop, and you were right it was the connector and some damaged wiring. They replaced the connector and repaired the wiring for 95€. All good now!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms: warning light and error code. For me, it turned out to be a corroded connector on the sensor wiring harness. Have you checked the connector pins for corrosion or damage? Sometimes a little bit of electrical contact cleaner can work wonders.
