The multifunction lamp is lit red and the car becomes difficult to steer.

Hi, I have a Dacia Logan and have encountered a problem where the multi-function lamp lights up red and a sound is heard. The car becomes very difficult to steer as the power steering decreases. When I restart the engine, the problem disappears, but it returns after several weeks or months. I have troubleshooted the car and there are no error codes, except for a low tire pressure warning, but no low tire pressure lamp has lit up. What could be causing this problem? Thank you for your answer.

Start by checking the power steering fluid level to ensure it's at the correct level, as low fluid can cause intermittent power steering issues. If the fluid level is fine, inspect the serpentine belt for wear or damage, as it drives the power steering pump. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

Checked the power steering fluid level, okay. The serpentine belt is also okay. I suspect it's the power steering pump itself that's malfunctioning and may need to be replaced soon.

Before replacing the power steering pump, check the electrical connections and wiring to the pump for any signs of corrosion or loose connections, as these can cause intermittent issues. If everything looks good, it might be worth having a professional mechanic inspect the pump to confirm if it needs replacement. Let me know if you need further assistance!
