Tiburon Flickering Lights Weak Battery
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Hyundai Tiburon is experiencing weak battery issues and flickering lights at idle, with the battery voltage appearing low. The initial suspicion is a faulty battery sensor, as similar experiences suggest it can cause such symptoms without triggering the battery light. The recommended solution is to have the battery sensor checked and tested at a workshop to confirm if it is the root cause of the problem.

The battery light hasn't come on. But the lights are indeed flickering. What's confusing me is that, with a multimeter, the battery seems ok. How did you figure out it was actually the sensor and not the battery itself?

Yeah, mine was doing the same! The battery "seemed" okay, fooled me too. The flickering lights are a dead giveaway. I kept chasing my tail thinking it was the alternator at first, but then some guy at the workshop mentioned that the battery sensor can cause all sorts of havoc, and not trigger the light! Just get that sensor checked; they can test it properly there. I'm betting that's your culprit.

Alright, that's great to know! Really appreciate the help. I'll take it to a workshop and ask them to specifically check the sensor. Fingers crossed that's all it is. They quoted me about 315€ for the repair, sensor, and diagnostic. Thanks!

Dude, that sounds super familiar! I had almost the exact same thing happen with my Tiburon. I went nuts trying to figure it out with multimeter tests and charging cycles. I'll bet everything I've got that it's the freakin' battery sensor. Is the battery light acting crazy too?
