Tiburon Outside Temp Sensor Issue

Alright, car gurus, lend me your wisdom! My 2002 Hyundai Tiburon, gasoline engine, is acting like it's perpetually winter. The outside temp sensor is throwing a code. Air con refuses to kick on, my washer nozzles are frozen solid even when it's not that cold, and the mirror heaters are MIA. I'm guessing the temp sensor is feeding bad data, but is there anything else I should be checking before I start ripping things apart?

Summary of the thread

A 2002 Hyundai Tiburon is experiencing issues with the outside temperature sensor, causing the air conditioning to malfunction and other related problems. The likely cause is a faulty sensor or issues with the wiring or connector, such as corrosion. Inspection of the sensor's location near the front bumper and checking for damage or corrosion in the wiring and connector is recommended. Ultimately, a corroded plug was identified and repaired, resolving the issue.

The symptoms you describe are consistent with a faulty outside temperature sensor. Considering the age of the vehicle and the error code present, it is likely a problem with the sensor itself, or more specifically, with the wiring or connector associated with the sensor. Have you inspected the connector for corrosion or damage?

Good call on the connector, I shoulda thought of that! Where exactly is that sneaky sensor hiding on the Tiburon? And what am I looking for specifically, besides obvious corrosion?

On your model of Hyundai Tiburon, the ambient temperature sensor is typically located near the front bumper, often behind the grille. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the sensor for any signs of damage, such as frayed wires or cracked insulation. If the connector pins appear corroded, a contact cleaner may offer a temporary improvement. However, considering the age and symptoms, a visit to a qualified technician for proper diagnosis and sensor replacement is advisable.

Appreciate the insight! Sounds like I'm chasing the right gremlin. Bit the bullet and took it to the shop. Turns out, corroded plug, just like you figured. 95€ later, and she's back to normal. Thanks again!
