Tiburon reduced engine power
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Hyundai Tiburon experienced reduced engine power, potentially linked to faulty chip tuning. The issue developed gradually, and a diagnostic error was noted. A workshop confirmed the problem was due to the chip tuning, and after resetting the car computer, the vehicle's performance returned to normal.

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, the auto scanner gave me a fault code, but I didn't write it down. I'll have to run the car diagnostic again to check. As for when it started, I'd say it's been developing gradually over the last few weeks, becoming more noticeable recently.

Okay, a gradual decrease in power makes me even more suspicious of that tuning. My issue turned out to be a bad install that messed with the car's computer. Honestly, it's probably best to take it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. They will know how to interpret the fault code and check if the tuning is indeed the cause. Better safe than sorry, you know?

You're absolutely right. I took your advice and went to a local workshop today. They confirmed it was indeed a faulty chip tuning and it cost me 180€ to fix. They reset the car computer and the Tiburon is running smoothly again. Thanks a lot for your help!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Tiburon a while back! Reduced power and a check engine light driving me nuts. Did the error code reader give you a specific fault code number? Knowing that might help narrow things down. Also, has the car been running differently since the chip tuning, or is this a recent development?
