Tiburon Rough Running
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Hyundai Tiburon was experiencing rough running, a check engine light, and jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion was an exhaust leak. After considering other potential causes like the fuel pump or crankshaft sensor, it was confirmed that a small exhaust leak was indeed the issue. The problem was resolved after a smoke test and repair.

Fuel pump or crankshaft sensor? Really? Wouldn't a bad fuel pump cause more widespread issues than just jerking during acceleration? And the crankshaft sensor... wouldn't that throw off the timing completely?

Okay, maybe not fuel pump immediately. My Tiburon had a similar stumble and it turned out to be a small exhaust leak. Get it smoke tested. Cost me 265€ to fix.

Exhaust leak it was. You nailed it. Shop confirmed and fixed. Thanks for the insight.

Tiburon, eh? Had similar symptoms with mine. Fuel pump maybe? Or could it be a crankshaft sensor issue?
