Tiburon start stop malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Hyundai Tiburon is experiencing start-stop issues, with the engine cutting out unexpectedly and a warning light activating. The problem is suspected to be related to a defective battery, as these systems are sensitive to voltage drops. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the battery was indeed the cause of the issue, and it was replaced.

Thanks. It happens regardless of engine temperature or how long it's been sitting. Could a bad battery cause these symptoms?

Yes, a discharged or defective battery is the most likely cause; these systems are very sensitive to voltage drops. It's probably more than you can diagnose yourself, I'd suggest a workshop.

Thanks for the confirmation and advice. I took it to a workshop, and the battery was indeed defective. The total repair was 290€.

That sounds frustrating. Does it happen more when the car has been sitting, or only when the engine is warm? Maybe a battery issue, have you checked the voltage?
