Tiburon throttle valve issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Hyundai Tiburon is experiencing reduced power and a check engine light, suspected to be due to a throttle valve issue. Possible causes include a faulty accelerator pedal module or malfunctioning electronics within the throttle body. Initial suggestions involve checking the throttle position sensor, wiring, and throttle body cleanliness. Ultimately, diagnostics confirmed the throttle valve electronics were at fault, leading to their replacement and resolving the issue.

Good call on the sensor wiring! I'll give that a look. But if the throttle body is clean and the wiring looks okay, are we pretty much stuck with a faulty accelerator pedal module or throttle sensor itself? I'm trying to avoid just throwing parts at it.

If the throttle body is clean and wiring is solid, yeah, a faulty accelerator pedal module or the electronics inside the throttle body are prime suspects. Without hooking it up to a proper diagnostic tool to read the codes and live data, you're kinda chasing ghosts. Bite the bullet and get it to a workshop.

Appreciate the reality check! Took your advice and had the shop run diagnostics. Turns out it was indeed the throttle valve electronics. Replacement cost me 265€. Car's back to its old self. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Could be a bad throttle position sensor messing with the air/fuel mix. Have you checked the sensor wiring and the throttle body itself for any obvious gunk buildup? That can throw things off big time. Also, limp mode often kicks in with throttle issues to protect the engine.
