Tiguan Stalling and Fuel Issues Point to Bad Injectors

My Tiguan has been acting up lately with terrible starts and keeps stalling at idle. Performance is way down and its drinking way more fuel than usual. Took it to a mechanic recently but had a bad experience, so looking for advice. Pretty sure its the fuel injectors but want to confirm before going somewhere new. Running a 2023 gasoline model with 84215km. Anyone dealt with similar symptoms and can recommend a reliable fix? Getting worried about driving it like this.

I experienced identical symptoms on my 2020 VW T-Roc with the 1.5 TSI gasoline engine. Poor starting, rough idle, significant performance drop, and increased fuel consumption pointed directly to clogging in the injection system. The diagnosis confirmed multiple dirty fuel injectors affecting the engine timing and fuel delivery. The repair involved a complete fuel system cleaning, including removal and ultrasonic cleaning of all injectors. Additionally, the fuel rail needed cleaning to remove built-up deposits that were restricting proper flow. This was a serious issue requiring immediate attention, as contaminated injectors can lead to permanent engine damage if left untreated. The carbon buildup was affecting both performance and engine longevity. After the cleaning service, the engine returned to normal operation with: Smooth idle, Proper cold starts, Restored performance, Normal fuel consumption Regular fuel system maintenance and using high-quality fuel can help prevent this issue. Would strongly recommend getting it checked soon, as these symptoms typically worsen over time.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That exact repair fixed my 2021 Tiguan with the same misfire and stalling issues. The engine runs perfectly now, no problems in 6 months since the injector cleaning. Just curious, what did the repair cost you in total? My bill seemed high but maybe prices vary. Also wondering if you had any other issues pop up afterward that might be related?

The total repair cost for my T-Roc came to 515€, covering the full injection system service. A professional cleaning and replacement of one defective nozzle resolved the vehicle misfire completely. The price was worth it considering how well the gasoline engine runs now, no stalling, smooth idle, and fuel consumption back to normal. Haven't experienced any related issues in the months since the repair. The dirty injection valve was definitely causing all those problems, and once fixed, everything went back to normal. Regular maintenance should prevent similar clogging issues from developing again. Using quality fuel and getting regular fuel system cleanings is much cheaper than dealing with complete injector failure. The improved performance and reliability since the repair confirms it was the right call to address it promptly.

Thanks everyone for the helpful advice! Took my Tiguan to a new mechanic who actually listened to the symptoms. The fuel injector diagnosis was spot on, they found severe clogging in two injectors and the fuel rail needed a thorough cleaning. Total repair came to 480€ which included parts and labor. The vehicle runs perfectly now, no more stalling, misfire issues are gone, and performance is back to normal. Fuel consumption dropped back to regular levels too. Mechanic mentioned using better quality gasoline and recommended regular fuel system cleanings every 30000km to prevent future problems. Really glad I got this fixed before it caused serious engine damage. The peace of mind was worth every cent spent on the repair.
