Tiida Engine Stalls After Fuel Filter Change
Summary of the thread
After changing the fuel filter on a 2009 Nissan Tiida with a diesel engine, the vehicle experienced stalling at idle, reduced engine power, and the check engine light turned on. These issues were suspected to be related to a fuel pressure problem, possibly due to an incorrectly seated filter, airlock, or a faulty fuel pressure regulator. The problem was confirmed to be the fuel pressure regulator, which was diagnosed and repaired at a workshop, resolving the engine issues.

Thanks for the quick reply! I believe I seated the filter correctly, but an airlock is possible. How would I diagnose a faulty fuel pressure regulator? Is there a way to test it without specialized tools?

While you can check for obvious signs like leaks or damaged wiring, a proper diagnosis of the fuel pressure regulator usually requires a fuel pressure gauge and potentially a scan tool to read live data. Given the symptoms and the recent filter change, it's quite possible there's an error entry stored. It might be best to get it checked at a workshop to avoid further complications. A faulty fuel pressure regulator can definitely cause engine misfires and rough idling.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a shop, and it was indeed the fuel pressure regulator causing the issue. Apparently, there was an error entry after changing the fuel filter. Repair cost me 45€. Runs like new now!

Sounds like a fuel pressure issue, especially since it occurred after the fuel filter change. Did you ensure the filter was seated correctly and the fuel lines were properly connected? Could there be an airlock in the system? A defective fuel pressure regulator could also be the culprit, leading to those symptoms.
