Tiida Terminal 30 Power Loss

Alright, gearheads, I've got a head-scratcher. My 2009 Nissan Tiida diesel is acting up something fierce. The problem? Terminal 30 keeps losing continuous plus power. Basically, it's like the car's power supply is cutting in and out. Mileage is at 70882 km. The only symptom I've noticed is that it's getting harder and harder to start. I'm thinking it's a short circuit somewhere, maybe the ignition switch, or even a faulty circuit breaker. Could the starter motor be drawing too much juice and causing this? Any ideas before I start tearing things apart?

Hmm, that sounds like a dodgy situation. The intermittent power loss on Terminal 30 could definitely be a pain to track down. You mentioned a heavily discharged or defective battery as a potential cause. Have you load-tested the battery to rule that out first? That's usually the easiest and cheapest thing to check. Also, are there any other electrical components acting strangely, like lights flickering or the radio cutting out?

Good point about the battery load test; I will check it out ASAP. As for other components, the radio occasionally resets itself, but I figured that was just a glitchy head unit. Could that really be related to the Terminal 30 issue? Where exactly should I start poking around with my multimeter if the battery checks out okay?

If the radio's resetting, it's highly likely related. That points even more strongly to a power supply issue. Honestly, tracing intermittent faults like that can be a nightmare. Given it's affecting multiple systems and you suspect a short circuit, it might be best to get a professional to diagnose it. They'll have the right tools and experience to pinpoint the exact location. Could save you a lot of time and potential headaches.

You're probably right, I'm not about to go crazy chasing wires. Dropped it off at the shop, and you nailed it – parasitic draw somewhere causing battery drain and messing with Terminal 30. Bill came to 290€ for the repair. Thanks for the advice!
