Tipo hybrid check engine light and overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Fiat Tipo hybrid is experiencing issues with the check engine light and engine overheating, accompanied by coolant leakage. The suspected cause is a control unit communication error, potentially related to a CAN bus issue. The problem was identified as a faulty cable connection to one of the control units, which was resolved by a workshop.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did pull some codes, and they seem to point towards a CAN bus issue, specifically a communication error with one of the control units. Were your codes similar? Any idea which component had the faulty connection?

Yep, CAN bus errors sound about right. Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact control unit, but it was a pain to diagnose. Based on your symptoms (overheating, coolant spill), I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop, especially since it's a hybrid. Messing with the cooling system on those can be tricky.

Appreciate the advice! Turns out you were right, it was a faulty cable connection to one of the control units, causing all sorts of chaos. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I had something similar with my Tipo, although it wasn't the hybrid version. The symptoms sound familiar – check engine light and coolant issues. It could very well be a communication fault. Did you manage to pull any diagnostic trouble codes? It might point you in the right direction. For me it was a connectivity issue, but I'm curious if you see the same codes.
