Tipo Overheating Speed Sensor
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Fiat Tipo with a gasoline engine is experiencing overheating and a check engine light, despite normal coolant levels. The issue may be linked to a faulty speed sensor affecting the radiator fan's operation. A suggestion to inspect the fan and sensor for damage or loose connections was made, but professional diagnosis and replacement of the sensor were ultimately required to resolve the problem.

Speed sensor, huh? Where exactly is that located, and is it something I could potentially check myself before taking it to a mechanic?

Yeah, the speed sensor is usually near the radiator, often attached to the fan assembly itself. You could try visually inspecting it for any obvious damage or loose connections. Honestly, though, given the symptoms, it's likely the sensor is faulty internally. I ended up just taking mine to a workshop, as diagnosing those sensors requires specific tools. They confirmed the issue and replaced it.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – it was indeed the speed sensor! Repair cost me 250€. Glad it's sorted now!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Tipo. Overheating and the check engine light – classic symptoms. Have you checked if the fan blades are spinning freely? It could be a defective speed sensor causing the fan not to kick in when it should.
