Toro Check Engine Light Fuel Consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Fiat Toro is experiencing issues with the check engine light and increased fuel consumption. A friend suggested the problem might be related to the inlet VANOS mechanics, specifically the camshaft solenoid valve. Similar symptoms, such as engine misfires and sluggish performance, were resolved by replacing faulty VANOS components at a workshop. Seeking professional assistance is recommended to address the issue effectively.

Misfires and low power... yeah, actually! It feels sluggish sometimes, especially when starting from a stop. What exactly did you do to fix it? Did you replace the solenoid valve yourself?

Nah, man, I'm not that mechanically inclined, haha. I took it straight to a workshop. They told me the VANOS was faulty (something about the inlet camshaft) and they had to replace some parts. Cost me around 250€, if I remember correctly. But after that, the car ran perfectly fine again. I'd say go to a professional, better safe than sorry.

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice! I'll take it to a workshop ASAP. Hopefully, it's just the solenoid valve and nothing too crazy. Really appreciate your help!

Hey! I also own a Toro, though I don't know about the engine type. I had something similar happen last year. Check engine light and terrible gas mileage. Did your friend say anything about potential engine misfires or loss of power, especially at lower RPMs? Could be related to variable timing...
