Touareg Hybrid Turn Signal Failure and Error Code Alert

My Touareg 2010 Hybrid keeps showing error messages and the turn signal is acting up. The signal lamp seems faulty and the error shows in both the error memory and speedometer display. Just had a bad experience with my mechanic and wondering if anyone has dealt with similar issues? Car is at 83784km and Id really appreciate feedback on what might be wrong and rough repair cost estimates. Anyone know if its just a broken lens or potentially the flasher relay? Want to be better prepared before visiting another repair shop.

As a Volkswagen Atlas Hybrid 2013 owner, I encountered nearly identical symptoms. The turn indicator malfunction and error messages stemmed from a faulty electrical connection in the lamp housing, not just a broken lens or simple relay issue. The automotive lighting system requires proper diagnosis with a scanner, as intermittent electrical faults can trigger multiple error codes. In my case, water had corroded the main connector behind the turn signal assembly, causing poor contact and unusual malfunctions. The repair involved: Complete signal lamp housing removal, Replacement of corroded wiring connector, Installation of new weatherproof seals, Electrical system diagnostic reset This was a moderate repair that took about 3 hours at the shop. The issue is common in VW models from that generation, particularly with the complex hybrid electrical systems. Without proper repair, it can potentially affect other electrical components. Consider requesting a full electrical diagnostic test before any parts replacement. The turn indicator problems often indicate broader connection issues rather than just failed bulbs or broken lenses.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Those electrical fault issues are frustrating. Did you remember roughly how much you paid for the full repair? My turn indicator is showing the exact same symptoms and Id like to budget accordingly. Also wondering if youve had any other electrical gremlins pop up since the signal lamp repair was done? The flasher relay seems ok but Im concerned there might be more issues hiding behind this problem.

The repair was completed last month and I havent experienced any electrical issues since. The flasher relay and turn indicator are working perfectly now. The total cost came to 95€ which covered diagnostics and fixing the cable connection issue. The root cause was similar to what I initially suspected, a corroded connector was causing the electrical fault in the signal lamp assembly. The repair shop found the exact issue quickly with their diagnostic equipment, and the fix was straightforward once they identified the faulty connection point. For your situation, the symptoms match exactly what I experienced, so you might be looking at a similar repair cost if its the same underlying problem. The automotive lighting system in these models is generally reliable once the connection issues are properly addressed. My advice would be to get it checked soon, as leaving electrical problems unaddressed can lead to more complicated issues down the line. The turn signal is now responding perfectly, with no error messages or warning lights showing up in the display. It was definitely worth getting it properly diagnosed and repaired rather than just replacing parts hoping to fix the issue.

Looking back, getting my Touareg fixed was actually straightforward once I found the right shop. After reading about similar experiences here, I took it to a certified VW specialist who immediately ran proper diagnostics. They found the same corroded connector issue behind the signal lamp that others mentioned. The repair took about 2.5 hours and cost 380€ total, including: Full electrical diagnostic scan, Signal lamp housing replacement, New wiring harness connector, Labor costs The turn indicator works perfectly now, no more error messages or electrical faults showing up. The automotive lighting system has been completely stable since the repair. Really glad I got a second opinion instead of continuing with my original mechanic who wanted to replace the entire flasher unit without proper diagnosis. For anyone facing similar issues, make sure they check the connections first before replacing major components. The broken lens I initially suspected turned out to be the least of my worries compared to the actual electrical problem hiding behind it.
