Tourneo Camshaft Sensor Issue

I'm having some trouble with my 2020 Ford Tourneo diesel. It's done 109367 km. Lately, it's been starting poorly, and the engine stalls at idle sometimes. Plus, the check engine light is now on. I'm suspecting it could be the camshaft sensor or potentially the encoder wheel on the camshaft. Anyone else seen this?

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my old Renault a few years back. Rough starts, stalling… drove me nuts! Was it throwing any codes related to ignition timing or engine misfire? Check Engine Light is never a good sign..

I don't have the exact codes to hand, but it's certainly pointing towards the camshaft sensor. How did you solve this for your Renault?

Yeah, my Renault was the camshaft sensor, too. Encoder wheel was slightly damaged and fooling the sensor. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop - sensor testing to confirm is key. It's a pain but better than causing further damage.

Thanks. Appreciate the advice. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out the encoder wheel on the camshafts was defective, which caused the camshaft sensor to fail. Repair cost me 695€, but at least it's sorted now.
