Tourneo Emergency Call System Error

I have a 2015 Ford Tourneo with a gasoline engine, and the emergency call system seems to have gone bonkers. I keep getting an error message on the speedometer, and the warning light is constantly on. The error memory also has a stored error. Any ideas what might be causing this? I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. It's like the car is constantly trying to dial 911, but failing miserably.

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Ford Tourneo owner experienced an error with the emergency call system, indicated by a warning light and error message. The issue was suspected to be a loose connection in the telematics unit, which is typically located behind the glove box or under the passenger seat. After taking the vehicle to a workshop, the problem was confirmed and resolved by fixing the loose connection, restoring the system's functionality.

I had something similar happen with my Tourneo – not sure what year yours is, but it sounds eerily familiar. For me, it turned out to be a dodgy connection. Have you checked all the cable and plug connections related to the telematics unit? Like a loose wire on a Christmas tree light, one little thing can mess up the whole system.

Thanks for the quick response! Where exactly is the telematics unit located? And are there any specific connectors I should be looking at first? I'm not super savvy with automotive electronics, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated. I'm guessing it's not as simple as just wiggling some wires, right?

The telematics unit is usually located behind the glove box or under the passenger seat. Honestly, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. Given the 'cable or plug connection' diagnosis, they should be able to pinpoint it quickly. Better than chasing ghosts in the machine yourself.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I took it to my local shop, and you were spot on – it was a loose connection. They charged me 95€ to fix it. Now the error is gone and the SOS system is working again. Appreciate the help!
