Tourneo engine stalling and fuel composition error
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Ford Tourneo owner experienced engine stalling and a check engine light, with an OBD reader indicating an incorrect fuel composition error. Potential causes included fuel contamination, poor fuel quality, or a faulty sensor. The recommended solution was to visit a workshop for a proper diagnosis, which revealed a defective cable connection as the issue, subsequently resolved by the repair shop.

The car isn't new, had it since new. I always use the same gas station. No recent work has been done, the problem started a week ago. If it's a sensor, can this be checked at home, or do I have to go to the shop?

Yeah, a faulty sensor could trigger that error. It's hard to say without proper diagnostic tools. A defective cable or plug connection of the component is a likely cause. Given the stalling, I'd strongly recommend taking it to a workshop. It might be a simple fix, but best not to risk damaging the engine further by running it with the wrong fuel/air mix.

Thanks for the help! I took it to the shop, and you were right, it was a defective cable connection. They fixed it for 95€, and now it runs smoothly again. Really appreciate the advice!

Incorrect fuel composition, eh? That's usually down to fuel quality, or the combustion chamber isn't getting the right mix. Is the car new to you, or have you recently changed fuel type or stations? Could also be a dodgy sensor in the fuel system. Any recent work done?
