I only have one key. As for the error code, I would need to check that again. But, are you suggesting it might not actually be the battery even with the low battery warning?

The error code would certainly help to isolate the problem. Yes, I suggest validating the problem before replacing parts. While a low battery is a likely culprit given the warning, these systems can be sensitive. It's best to have the system checked at a service facility.

Thank you for the insights. It turned out to be the key fob battery after all. Replacing it at a workshop cost 37€, and everything is working normally again.

I had similar issues with my 2016 BMW 3 Series, although the brand is obviously different. Before jumping to conclusions about the battery, did you try the spare key? Sometimes, interference can cause similar symptoms. What error code are you seeing?
