Tourneo radio reception issue

I'm having a weird issue with my 2019 Ford Tourneo hybrid. The radio reception is terrible. I keep getting an error message in the infotainment system and sometimes the entire audio system just cuts out. I scanned for error codes and there is indeed an error stored related to the antenna. I'm thinking it's probably the antenna itself, but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced something similar before I start throwing money at it. The car has 204925 km on the clock.

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Ford Tourneo hybrid is experiencing poor radio reception, with error messages in the infotainment system and occasional audio system failures. An error code related to the antenna suggests it may be the source of the problem. Possible causes include a defective antenna or corrosion at the antenna base. Checking the antenna base for damage or corrosion is recommended, and if the issue persists, replacing the antenna at a workshop is advised.

Sounds familiar! I've got a Tourneo too, and I had a similar problem with the radio. Terrible signal strength, constant radio interference, the works. Did you check the antenna base for any corrosion or damage? Sometimes water gets in there and messes things up. Also, have you tried a different FM signal? The area you're in can cause issues sometimes.

Good shout on the antenna base! I'll check that for corrosion tomorrow. As for the FM signal, it happens everywhere, even in areas where I used to get perfect reception. If the base looks okay, what was the fix for yours? Was it just a defective antenna, or something more sinister?

Yeah, for me, after checking the connections and fiddling about, it turned out to be a defective antenna. I didn't want to mess around with it too much, so I took it to a workshop and they confirmed the same thing. New antenna sorted it right out. Honestly, with the error code you are getting, and the mileage on the clock, I'd be surprised if it was anything else. If the base looks ok, save yourself the headache and take it to a workshop to confirm.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll check the antenna base for good measure, but it sounds like a trip to the workshop is in order. They quoted me around 255€ for a new antenna and fitting, so fingers crossed that's all it is.
