Toyota Fortuner Diesel (2023): Power loss, check engine lights and other problems - experience and solutions wanted

Hey guys, I've recently started having a problem with my Toyota Fortuner Diesel, year of manufacture 2023. I notice a loss of power, the check engine light is on, the engine just stalls, the car jerks when accelerating, won't start, guzzles a lot of fuel and runs rough at idle. I have a hunch that the quantity drift compensation needs to be reset. Have any of you ever experienced similar problems and can give me some tips? How did you get it fixed in the workshop and what was your experience? I am grateful for any help!

Hello, I once had a similar problem with my 2021 Toyota Hilux. I'm not a professional mechanic, but I've done a few things before. The whole thing was an injector problem, more precisely, the injectors were not adjusted. I then had it fixed at my regular garage. The master mechanic re-tuned the injectors and it cost me 45 euros. Perhaps you could give me some more information about your Fortuner, such as the exact mileage, so that I can help you even better?

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! So my Fortuner now has 26867 KM on it. After your suggestion, I think I'll go to Toyota and have the injectors re-tuned. The quantity drift compensation probably has something to do with it. I wanted to know if it's my diesel or if it's a general Toyota problem. Thanks again for the tip!

No problem, always happy to help! In my case it was definitely the injectors and not the diesel. My Hilux had around 40000 KM on it at the time. The quantity drift compensation is something like the individual adjustment of the injection quantity of each injector, so it's exactly your problem. If you want to be absolutely sure, you can have a special diagnosis carried out, but it shouldn't cost much. Just have a look in your area to see which workshops offer this. But I'm pretty sure it's really the injectors. Of course, it could also be a general Toyota problem, but I don't know much about that. I hope I've been able to help you!

Hey, thanks for the additional explanation, that makes sense! I'll definitely have a special diagnostic done so I'm completely sure before I order the repairs. Hopefully it's just an injector issue and not a general Toyota problem. I really appreciate your help and I'm glad I asked here. Thanks again!
