Toyota iQ AC failure

Alright, I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2011 Toyota iQ, diesel engine, only 36k kilometers on the clock, is throwing a fit. I'm getting an error stored in the memory, a warning light on the speedometer, and the air conditioning refuses to kick on. I ran a diagnostic and it's pointing to a defective temperature sensor on the heat exchanger. Could this also mean the AC control unit itself is toast? Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar AC issue with my iQ. Is it intermittent, or completely dead? Check the sensor connections first, but it could indeed be the control unit acting up.

Completely dead, unfortunately. The connections seem solid, though I'll double-check. When yours was playing up, did the diagnostic specifically point to the temperature sensor, or did it just say 'AC problems'? I'm trying to avoid unnecessarily replacing parts, you know?

Mine also flagged the temperature sensor. It's probably a faulty sensor triggering the error, but honestly, with these tiny cars, it's often interconnected. Best bet is to get it looked at by a workshop. They'll probably confirm the same, and can properly diagnose the AC unit.

Thanks for the input! I think you're right, time to bite the bullet and take it to a pro. Turns out the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger was indeed defective, which they said then fried the AC control unit. Almost 1000€ later, it's fixed. Appreciate the confirmation!
