Toyota iQ automatic transmission issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Toyota iQ with a gasoline engine is experiencing strange shifting, intermittent transmission light activation, and occasional emergency mode engagement. The initial suspicion is that the issue might be related to the transmission oil, possibly due to undervoltage. A similar case suggested checking the transmission fluid level and condition, as low or dirty fluid can cause such symptoms. A professional inspection revealed worn transmission oil, which was resolved with a service costing 240€.

Thanks. Can you tell me more about what happened to you? Did you have the same symptoms, and were there any diagnostic codes?

Yes, I had similar issues with erratic shifting and the transmission light coming on. I didn't get any codes myself, but it felt like the car was stuck in a high gear. I'd suggest getting it checked by a professional, since this sounds like more than just a simple top-up. A transmission flush might be needed.

Thanks for the advice. I had a technician inspect it, and the automatic transmission oil was worn. It cost 240€ to fix.

I had something similar with my Toyota iQ. It could be a transmission issue. Have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition? Sometimes low or dirty fluid can cause these symptoms.
