Toyota iQ error light and bumpy ride

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2013 Toyota iQ electric. It's got about 54000 km on the clock. Basically, I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, and a warning light has popped up on the speedometer. The ride's gotten super bumpy lately too. I think it might be a damping adjustment fault? I had a look at the connections, but everything seems okay to me. Anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Toyota iQ electric is experiencing a warning light on the speedometer and a bumpy ride, potentially due to a damping adjustment fault. The issue might be caused by a defective cable or plug connection in the suspension system. Checking the connections to the shock absorbers is suggested, but if the problem persists, professional inspection and repair are recommended.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi there! I have a Toyota iQ as well (not sure about the year), and your issue sounds familiar. The bumpy ride, the error light... Could be a defective cable or plug connection in the suspension system. That's what it was for me. Did you check all the connections related to the suspension system?

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'all the connections', do you mean specifically the ones going to the shock absorbers, or are there other things I should be looking at? I'm not super familiar with car damping, and would like to avoid suspension tuning if possible. Any specific areas I should focus on?

Yeah, I meant the connections to the shock absorbers, especially. It's a common issue in the iQ. If you've already checked them and everything looks okay, the problem might be deeper. Honestly, for something like a suspension issue, it's best to get it checked out by a professional.

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice! I appreciate it. I think I will take it to a workshop. They reckon it's a defective cable or plug connection, just like you said, and quoted me around 95€ for the repair. Hopefully, that'll sort it out!
