Toyota iQ Radio Reception Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Toyota iQ owner experienced radio reception issues, with the infotainment system displaying an error message and the audio system being non-functional. Diagnostic checks indicated an error stored in the memory, leading to speculation about a defective antenna. Another owner with a similar experience suggested that the antenna was likely the cause. After replacing the antenna at a workshop, the radio reception returned to normal.

The static appeared suddenly. Are there any specific components of the vehicle electronics that commonly fail and lead to this issue? Or is the antenna the primary suspect based on your experience?

With it appearing suddenly, yeah, sounds almost exactly like what happened to me. I spent ages fiddling with it, trying different things, but in the end I caved and went to a workshop. They confirmed it was the antenna. Honestly, save yourself the headache, just take it in.

Understood. Thank you for the advice. I had the antenna replaced at a workshop; the total repair cost was 255€. The radio reception is now normal.

Sounds familiar! I've got an iQ too, and went through something similar recently. Was the static noise really bad, almost like no FM signal at all? Did you notice if it happened suddenly, or gradually got worse? It's probably the antenna, but there could be something wrong with the vehicle electronics...
