TPMS ABS and Steering Issues

If one string is out of tune, the whole orchestra sounds bad. Are you certain that all your tires are inflated to precisely the same pressure? Even a slight discrepancy can trigger the system. Also, have you considered that the sensors themselves might be the culprits? They are battery-powered and, after this many years, might be sending inaccurate signals due to low power. Did you check the spare too?

In my experience, yes, it can, especially that ABS light. The system is surprisingly sensitive. However, given the age of your Maverick and the additional symptoms you described, specifically, the steering issues and ABS light, it might be prudent to have the system diagnosed professionally. While the tire pressure, or rather, the valve in the tire, may indeed be the primary trigger, there could be underlying issues exacerbating the problem. From my recollection, it turned out to be the valve in one of my tires. It was defective!
