Trafic boost leak
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Renault Trafic diesel exhibited issues such as a check engine light, jerking during acceleration, a whistling sound turning into a hiss, stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power. These symptoms suggested a potential boost leak, possibly linked to the boost pressure sensor. Upon investigation, the problem was traced to a loose hose clamp in the turbo system, which, once tightened, resolved the issues. Additionally, the boost pressure sensor was replaced as a precaution, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Interesting! You mention a faulty connection on the turbo system. Was it the boost sensor cable or something else entirely? I have checked for obvious cracks, but I didn't check the tightness. Should I really focus on the turbo boost hoses themselves?

In my case, it was a combination of loose hose clamps and a slightly damaged boost sensor connector. Given the symptoms, a defective cable or plug connection could be the culprit. However, without proper diagnostic equipment, it's tough to pinpoint. If you're not comfortable digging deeper, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop; they will probably charge you around 95€.

Thanks for the insight! The loose hose clamp was indeed the problem! I tightened the connection, and the problem is gone! I replaced the boost pressure sensor too, since I already ordered it. Runs like new now!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Saab 9-3. The symptoms were almost identical – the whistling, the power loss, the dodgy acceleration. For me, it ended up being a faulty connection on the turbo system. Have you checked all the air intake hoses for any signs of cracking or being loose?
