Trafic cylinder pressure fluctuations
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Renault Trafic diesel is experiencing cylinder pressure fluctuations, higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, and a persistent check engine light. The owner has checked the timing belt, head gasket, crankshaft sensor, and camshaft, with no apparent issues. Despite normal injector spray patterns and pressure sensor readings, the problem persists. A suggestion was made to consult a workshop for a professional diagnostic, as the issue might be a consequential error from another source, which ultimately resolved the problem at no cost.

Injectors seem fine, no visible leaks and spray pattern looks normal. Pressure sensor readings are fluctuating, but within what I'd consider a 'normal' range – that's what makes this so perplexing. With your Saab, was it also a fluctuating reading within an acceptable range, or something more obvious?

Ah, I see. In my case, it was a miscommunication between sensors that eventually manifested as an error code. I couldn't identify the root cause without professional diagnostic tools. Considering the sensor readings being within range, I'd recommend going to a trusted workshop to read out the error memory. It looks to me as if it could be a consequential error resulting from another, maybe unrelated, error.

Thanks for the insight. The 'consequential error' angle makes sense given the seemingly normal sensor readings. I'll take it to my workshop and post back on how it went. It was that, cost me 0€ to fix.

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3, though the symptoms weren't quite the same. Cylinder pressure issues can be tricky. Did you check for any obvious leaks or damage to the injectors? What kind of readings are you getting from the pressure sensors?
