Trafic defective engine mount

My 2002 Renault Trafic with a gasoline engine is showing a defective engine mount. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, and the idling is quite uneven. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered this before?

Engine mounts, yeah, they are a pain. Had something similar happen with my old Opel Astra—kept getting weird vibrations and the engine felt like it was going to jump out. An engine mount is basically what it sounds like: it connects the engine to the chassis of the car. They're usually made of rubber and metal. Did you check the transmission mount too?

Transmission mount? I hadn't considered that. The error code specifically mentioned the engine mount. But, could a faulty transmission mount trigger similar symptoms?

Well, on my Astra, it turned out both the engine and transmission mounts were shot. The vibration was throwing off all sorts of sensors. If the error code points to the engine mount first, check that, but don't rule out the transmission mount completely. The mounting bracket can be defective too. Honestly, though, I'd probably get it checked at a workshop. Much easier than crawling around under the car.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop; you were spot on. Turns out a damaged cable was the issue. The engine mount itself was fine, thankfully. Repair cost was about 95€.
