Engine management light is on. Could you elaborate on your experience? Did you also suspect the DPF, and if so, what steps did you take to confirm the diagnosis?

My Trafic exhibited identical symptoms. After some vehicle inspections, it became apparent that the DPF was indeed defective. Given the cost involved, I'd strongly suggest having a professional check it thoroughly. DPF cleaning might be an option, but it's often a temporary fix. In my case, a filter replacement was necessary.

Thanks so much for sharing! Your input has been extremely helpful. Took it to the workshop and they confirmed the DPF is defective, and a filter replacement is required. The repair will cost 1550€. I appreciate you responding.

I have a Trafic too, can't remember the exact year, and those symptoms sound very familiar! Reduced power and smoke are definitely not good signs. Has the engine management light come on? It could also be related to backpressure in the exhaust system.
