Trafic electric steering column fault

I own a Renault Trafic, built in 2011 with a gasoline engine. I'm experiencing a problem with the electric steering column adjustment. The error memory has stored a fault, and the steering column can no longer be adjusted electrically. Has anyone encountered a similar issue, or have any advice on where to start?

I have seen this a few times, usually on older models. Given the symptoms and the error code, it's likely a defective cable or plug connection somewhere in the steering column assembly. Have you checked the connections under the steering wheel and near the motor?

Thank you for your suggestion. Could you please specify which connections I should inspect more closely? I am not very familiar with the exact layout of the steering column.

Focus on the multi-pin connector going into the adjustment motor itself. Also, check the wiring harness for any visible damage or breaks. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, I would recommend visiting a workshop. I recall a similar issue on a different vehicle costing around 95€ to resolve.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to a workshop as suggested and you were spot on - a corroded connector was the culprit. The repair cost was indeed close to the amount you mentioned. Much appreciated!
