Trafic engine control malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Renault Trafic diesel with 225,000 km on the clock experienced an engine control malfunction warning and wouldn't start. The initial suspicion was a faulty connection. A suggestion to check and clean the battery cable connections resolved the issue, indicating that loose or dirty connections were the cause. If the problem had persisted, a workshop visit for a potential ECU issue would have been recommended.

Thanks! Which connections exactly? At the battery terminals themselves, or further down the line?

Yeah, the terminals themselves. Give them a good clean and make sure they're tight. If that doesn't solve it, you're probably best off getting it to a workshop, could be an ECU issue.

Cheers! It was indeed the battery cable connections. Gave them a clean and a tighten, and it fired right up. Cost me 155€ at the workshop! Appreciate the help!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my Renault Trafic. Check your battery cable connections. Sounds simple, but it caused me a massive headache when my engine light came on.
