Trafic Engine Power Loss

Experiencing reduced engine power in my 2006 Renault Trafic gasoline. Diagnostic check shows an error related to the engine control unit. Anyone encountered something similar? I'm not very savvy with cars, so any advice is welcome.

Yes, the engine light is on. It started intermittently a few weeks ago, but it's now constant, and the power loss is pretty consistent. Is there anything I can check myself before taking it to a workshop?

Right, flashing engine light and power loss screams ECU. Could be a faulty main relay messing things up, but honestly, for that year and those symptoms, get it to a proper mechanic. ECU repairs aren't usually DIY jobs unless you know your stuff.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and it turned out to be a defective main relay, just like you suspected. They replaced it, and the error is gone. The repair cost me 120€. Appreciate your help!
