Trafic Generator Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Renault Trafic with a gasoline engine is experiencing generator malfunction symptoms, including reduced engine power, warning lights, and weak headlights. The OBD scanner indicates a generator issue, suggesting possible causes like voltage drop, alternator problems, or a defective generator. The constant battery light when the engine is running points to a faulty generator, which was confirmed by a workshop, resolving the issue after repair.

I didn't check the voltage regulator. The battery light is constantly on when the engine is running, off when the engine is off. If it was the voltage regulator, shouldn't the light be off when the engine is off? What was your experience? Was it the generator?

It was a bad generator. Constant battery light is a classic sign. If your scanner points to the generator and you have those symptoms, that's likely it. Take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis.

I took my Trafic to a workshop. They confirmed the generator was faulty. The repair cost 960€, but the problem is resolved.

Sounds rough. I had similar issues with my Trafic: reduced power, crazy dash lights, and car wouldn't start. A new battery didn't fix it. Did you check the voltage regulator? Is the battery light on constantly, or does it flicker?
