Trafic loss of power

Having trouble with my 2017 Renault Trafic diesel. It's got about 98k km on the clock. Lately, I've noticed a serious drop in engine power, especially when I'm trying to accelerate. Plus, the check engine light is on. I've checked the air intake for any blockages, but everything seems clear. Could this be a faulty throttle sensor messing with my fuel efficiency?

I had a similar issue with my 2018 Opel Insignia: reduced engine power and the check engine light. Your throttle valve may be defective.

A defective throttle valve? That sounds expensive! What exactly went wrong with your Opel? Was it just a straightforward replacement, or did they have to fiddle with the electronics too?

In my case, the accelerator pedal module was faulty. The electronics inside were defective, causing the throttle valve to misbehave. I suggest taking your Trafic to a workshop for a diagnosis.

Thanks for the heads-up! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The throttle valve was indeed defective; they said it's a common problem. New throttle valve plus labor came to 265€. Runs like new now!
