Trafic outside temperature sensor faulty

I've got a 2016 Renault Trafic diesel and I'm having a weird issue. The outside temperature sensor seems to be faulty. I've got an error stored, the air conditioning won't switch on, the spray nozzles are frozen even when it's not that cold, and the mirror heating isn't working. I think it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else had this?

Hey, I've got a Renault Trafic too, though I can't remember the year. I had something similar happen a while back. Air con wouldn't kick in, which was the first sign for me. Did you check the sensor itself or just the wiring? It could be the sensor is just plain dead. Worth a look before you start chasing wires.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't actually checked the sensor itself, just the wiring that I could easily get to. Where is the sensor located on your Trafic? Is it easy enough to get to and test? I'm not super experienced with car electrics, to be honest.

On mine, it's in the passenger side mirror. You can pop the mirror glass out carefully and it's right there. Honestly, though, given all the symptoms you're describing, it really does sound like a wiring issue. But, yeah, check the sensor. If you're not confident with electrics, though, it might be worth taking it to a garage. I ended up doing that and they diagnosed a broken wire. Cost me 95€ to fix.

Thanks a lot for the info and advice! I think I'll check the sensor location and wiring one more time, but probably take it to the shop. I appreciate you sharing your experience!
